Adult Community Education, Onkaparinga

The City of Onkaparinga has eight Community Centres/ Neighbourhood Houses, of which seven are funded under ACE (Adult Community Education) grants. In the case of ACE education, an adult is any person over 18 years, community education is delivered by local, not-for-profit organizations, and the education is non-accredited training in language, literacy, numeracy and general education including arts/crafts, self development and life skills.

For the year 2005/6, the seven centres provided a total of 45,828 student contact hours for 2,314 participants. Compared to 2004/5, this was a 24% increase in contact hours and a 46.4% increase in participants.
