Wine Grape Production in the McLaren Vale Region
Producers in the McLaren Vale region crushed 54,602 tonnes of
wine grapes in the 2008 vintage, up from 35,292 tonnes in 2007,
representing an increase of 54.7%. Red varieties were 79.4% of
the total crush, compared with 62.0% for South Australia as a whole.
The total value of grapes to the region has been decreasing since
2004 but an increase has occurred in 2008.

South Australian Wine Grape Yields
The total grape crush for South Australia in 2008 was 816,868
tonnes, up 42.0% from the 2007 harvest of 575,111 tonnes. The crush
in Coonawarra and Wrattonbully was over double of the previous
year.
