Motor Vehicle Registrations

In May 2009 there were 174,921 motor vehicles registered to the residents of the City of Onkaparinga, an increase of 5.2% when compared to March 2008. This equates to 1.2 registered vehicles per person or 3.1 per household (using 2006 Census population and dwellings figures).

The 5173 postcode experienced the largest increase of 14.6%, closely followed by 5160 (14.4%) and 5174 (13.9%). Maslin Beach and Christies Beach / Christies Beach North remained static.

Recreational Boat Registrations

At the 30 June 2009 there were 5,394 boats, registered to owner’s whose postal address was within the City of Onkaparinga, that were between 4 to 8 metres in length. This is an increase of 44.5% on last year’s figure of 3,734.

This equates to 1.2 registered vehicles per person or 3.1 per household (using 2006 Census population and dwellings figures).

The largest increase of 187.5% occurred in 5160 – Lonsdale, however, the 2008 figure of 8 boat registrations only increased to 23 in 2009. Similarly 5170 – Maslin Beach increased by 80.0% from 20 in 2008 to 36 in 2009.
