Population Change, Adelaide Metropolitan Councils
Between the financial years of 2003-04 and 2007-08
the City of Onkaparinga’s population grew by 3.7%. This was
0.4% lower than the Adelaide Statistical Division (4.1%) and South
Australia as a whole, with both experiencing a population increase
of 4.1%. The City of Onkaparinga maintains its position as the
largest Local Government Area (LGA) in South Australia, by 30,547
people or 24.0% larger than its nearest rival the City of Salisbury.
There are two main measures of growth: population
increase and growth rate as a percentage of the population. Within
the Adelaide
Metropolitan area, between 2003-04 and 2007-08, the City of Salisbury
had the largest population increase (8,919) followed by the City
of Onkaparinga (5,614) and Port Adelaide Enfield (5,540). The
highest growth rates in the same period were Adelaide City (20.6%),
followed
