Average annual growth rates, 1999-2004, selected comparisons
The City of Onkaparinga grew at a rate of 0.6% between 2002 and 2003(a). This was at the same rate as the Adelaide Statistical Division and South Australia as a whole. The three regions were however lower in growth rate than Australia and the total of all Australian capital cities at 1.2%.
For the City of Onkaparinga the 0.6% growth rate for the 2002-2003 period was slightly lower than the average annual growth rate experienced in the previous five years (0.7%). In contrast, increasing growth rates were experienced by South Australia (from 0.5% to 0.6%). During the period Australia’s growth rate remained steady at 1.2%.

Within the Adelaide Statistical Division (ASD), the Northern region (statistical subdivision) experienced the fastest average annual growth rate of 0.9% for the period 2002-2003, up from 0.8% for the previous five year period. The Southern region showed a steady rate of annual growth of 0.6% for the six year period to 2002. The Western region doubled its growth rate (from 0.1% to 0.2%) while the Eastern region decreased from 0.4% to 0.3%.
