How to find out when your green waste bin is collected
To find out which day of the month your green waste bin will be picked up, try our new waste collection search.
In our green waste bins we DO accept: grass cuttings, weeds, twigs, branches and prunings up to 15cm in diameter, leaves and flowers. We do NOT accept: plastic of any sort, plant pots, sand, dirt, concrete, bricks/rubble, food waste, animal waste, needles, syringes or branches larger than 15cm in diameter.
Everything that you put in your green waste bin goes to Peats Soils in Willunga for large scale composting.
Residents are eligible to have up to two additional green waste bins. The additional bins will be picked up on the same day as your first bin. Call (08) 8384 0666 to enquire.
Green waste drop-off service
We offer the green waste drop-off service to run in conjunction with the existing kerbside green waste collection to help residents recycle their more bulky green waste items.
Residents may take green waste* to a designated drop-off location in Aberfoyle Park, Aldinga and Lonsdale for recycling on the last Sunday of each month.
The service is available to residents of the City of Onkaparinga only and each property is entitled to one green waste pass at no charge. To be eligible, residents must first register for the service:
Note: As per the information sheet that was provided with the 2012-13 Green Waste Pass, all users will need to re-register for 2013-14. This change was prompted to make the cost of mail outs more efficient and improve council’s records.
Following registration, residents will be sent a green waste pass and detailed instructions including the service locations and dates.
The service is available to residents of the City of Onkaparinga only and each property is entitled to one green waste pass at no charge.
*a limit of approximately 1 cubic metre of green waste (equivalent to a 6x4 trailer) applies per property per month and no material other than household garden vegetation will be accepted.
