Parklets

Want to host a parklet

A parklet is a built platform that can consist of benches, chairs, tables, planter boxes and bike racks and is typically positioned over one or two car parking spaces to transform them from ‘places for cars’ to ‘places for people’.

As part of the City-Wide Place & Business Activation Plan, the Parklet program has been developed to support business growth and activation in the various maintsreets, coastal nodes and townships within the City of Onkaparinga, ultimately making the City an attractive place to live, work and do business.

Delicia Acai + Protein Bar on Beach Road, Christies Beach and The Cottage Bakery on Main Road McLaren are the latest Onkaparinga eateries to host a parklet. These parklets will remain in front of these businesses for a 12 month period until December 2019.

Keep an eye out for them next time you’re in Christies Beach or McLaren Vale and stop by for a pie or acai bowl in the sunshine!

Previous host businesses include The Coffee Factory and Becks Bakehouse in Port Noarlunga. Check out their experience in hosting one of council’s parklets via the video below.
