TAFE Independent Learning Centre

The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) is a joint-use partnership between the City of Onkaparinga Libraries and TAFESA.

Its aim is to facilitate access to the services and resources of the City of Onkaparinga Libraries for lecturers, support staff and students.

About the Independent Learning Centre (ILC)

Please bring your student library card with you each time you access the ILC.

The ILC provides:

Quiet study areas
Equipment for finishing of reports etc
Nursing Reserve collection
DVD viewing area
Computers, scanner, laser printer
Staff on duty to assist with research queries, computer trouble-shooting etc
Extended hours of operation
Equipment to hire

Opening Hours
Monday–Thursday 8am–8pm
Friday 8am–5pm
Saturday 10am–4pm

Hours may vary during TAFE holidays.

The ILC is located on Level 3 of the Noarlunga Library. Staff can be contacted from 8am Monday to Friday.

Internet and Word Processing access available in the ILC!
The ILC has 16 PCs available for internet and word processing. Students can use the internet to do research for study purposes and log in using their student number.

Training sessions can be arranged for World Wide Web, email, online databases etc for staff as well as students (basic and advanced sessions available). See your lecturer about group training or contact one of the ILC staff for an individual training session.

We have available for loan with lecturer permission:

Video/DVD TVs
Multimedia projector
Projection screen
Whiteboards (standard and electronic)
Digital video camera
CD/radio/cassette players

There is a booking system for equipment and we recommend booking in advance to ensure equipment is available when you need it

DVD loans
There is a large range of DVDs located in the ILC. The majority of these can be borrowed by students and staff of TAFESA.

Library training sessions
The ILC offer the following library training sessions:

Library orientation tours
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) training sessions for new students
World Wide Web training
Email training
Research skills sessions

Colour printer
Colour printing is available in the ILC.

Scanner
A flat bed scanner linked to a PC and printer is available in the Independent Learning Centre and the Noarlunga Library.

Quiet study areas
These are available throughout the library for independent study.

Colour photcopier
Quality colour copying for posters, certificates and presentations is available in the library.

Laminating
Noarlunga Library provides a laminating service for certificates, posters or presentations.

DVD/CD-ROM loans
Recreational and educational DVDs and CD-ROMs are available for loan.

Reference collection
The Noarlunga Library has a large range of printed resources at the Reference floor, including Australian Bureau of Statistics publications, government publications, car manuals and telephone books.

Today’s library offers a lot more than just books. We provide a range of services designed to meet the needs of all ages with a focus on learning, literacy, recreation and relaxation.
