A New RAA Initiative

Increasing numbers of mobility scooters, or gophers being used by an ageing population has prompted the RAA to extend it's services.  The decision follows a successful pilot program run by RAA over the past 12 months.  The two most common breakdowns were flat tyres or faulty batteries which in most cases were discovered at home.  If the member is located on the roadside the patrols will do all they can to get the scooter going again but if that is not possible they will make arrangements to get the member and their scooter home or to a place of repair.

CarFit

CarFit is an educational program designed to provide advice and information to older drivers. CarFit offers tailored individual advice on how you and your car can "fit" together to maximise safety and comfort.

At a CarFit session trained professionals, including a qualified occupational therapist, ask simple questions and complete a checklist with the driver. The driver is then shown recommended adjustments. The entire process takes about 20-25 minutes. Participants will leave with a copy of the checklist, a list of local resources and greater peace of mind. Please note CarFit is not an assessment of an individual's driving ability.
