2010 Poetry Unleashed Festival
3 –12 September

The Poetry Unleashed Festival has something for everyone whether you are a reader or writer of poetry.

If you enjoy listening to poetry whilst sampling our area's fine wines and great pizza then the Poets & Pizza held at Coriole Vineyards on Friday 3 September at 7pm is the ideal event for you. The cost is $40 per person and bookings can be made on (08) 8323 8305.

If you want to enjoy classical music, fine wine and local produce but also get a glimpse into how poets are inspired to write and then hear their work, then Candles Wine and Classics at Leconfield Winery on Saturday 4 September at 7pm is a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The Spoken Word competition is all about the performance of original poetry. The Singing Gallery Main Road McLaren Vale plays host to this dynamic event on Sunday 5 September at 2pm. The event is free and bookings can be made at the arts centre - Port Noarlunga on (08) 8326 5577.

Poets on Parade - Three poets will be presenting poetry sessions for Years 4-7 at nine primary schools in the City of Onkaparinga during 6-8 September.

Youth Awards Night - Thursday 9 September will see the winners of the Youth and SMS poetry competitions be awarded their prizes at the Seaford Library Grand Boulevard Seaford. Join us between 6-8pm for the awards, music, readings and a light supper. Enquiries on (08) 8384 0701.

Friendly Street Poets (FSP) will conduct their southern meeting at the arts centre - Port Noarlunga on Friday 10 September from 7pm onwards. Come along and take part in the open mike session and have your poem qualify for inclusion in the FSP anthology. Cost is $5 / $4 concession. Speed Poetry Assessment - If you are an aspiring poet and would love to get professional feedback about your work, then head to Noarlunga Library Ramsay Place Noarlunga Centre between 2 and 4pm on Saturday 11 September. Steve Evans, Tess Driver and Deb Matthew-Zott will give you a critique of your work. Bring two poems of no more than twenty lines each and  get immediate results.

Saturday 11 September should be a great night out. The Great Debate - Poetry Sux will be a battle of fun and words. MC Delta,Mark Lloyd and Clementine Ford will battle it out with Steve Evans,Stephanie Johnston and Tracey Korsten with Helen Bock trying to keep a lid on the laughs and the debate.

Cost is $12. Bring a basket supper and enjoy refreshments available from a limited bar.

Poetry Unleashed Competition Awards Ceremony Sunday 12 September 7pm

The festival concludes with the winners of the various competitions being announced at the Vines Golf Course Reynella on the corner of Reynell and Pine Roads Woodcroft.
