Bike tracks & trails

Cycling, in its many forms, is growing enormously in popularity. We have a vast network of bike trails including on-road bike lanes, off-road multi-purpose trails and BMX tracks.

Our bike lanes (on main and secondary roads) can be found in the Bike Direct Maps developed by Transport SA.

Information on bike trails in the Onkaparinga region can be found on the South Australian Trails website.
Further information on existing and proposed bike trails in the Onkaparinga region can be found within the Recreational Trails Network Strategy and Action Plan. Numerous linear trails are proposed for future construction (subject to funding and design), and some of these include Field River, Christies Creek and Willunga Creek.

Construction of the first stage of the Sturt River Linear Park within the Coromandel Valley has recently been completed. The Sturt River Linear Park is an exciting project driven by the Holdfast, Marion, Mitcham and Onkaparinga councils. Upon completion the Sturt River Linear Park will provide a link from Frank Smith Park, Coromandel Valley (the hills) to the Patawalonga Basin in Glenelg North and in turn an iconic shared use trail for South Australia.
