If your event is to be held on community land, you will need to book the reserve using the application form. A permit fee may also apply. For more information, please contact the Permits and Licences Officer on (08) 8384 0135.
The council may provide equipment including waste and recycling bins for your event. Approval can be obtained by completing the Waste & Recycling bins request form. For more information, please contact the council’s Team Leader, Administration, on (08) 8384 0185.
If your event is going to last longer than 3 days then a development application may be required. For more information please contact the Development Services section on (08) 8384 0666.
The council recognises the Kaurna people as traditional owners of our land. We have developed Kaurna protocols to assist with acknowledgements, welcomes and flag flying.
If alcohol will be available at your event, and it is on council land, you will need a liquor licence. For more information, please contact the council’s Administration Officer on (08) 8384 0182.
If your community event has an opening or presentation ceremony, you might like the Mayor (or a delegated proxy) to officiate. For further information, please contact the Mayor's Assistant on (08) 8384 0180 or by email elekel@onkaparinga.sa.gov.au
There are many picturesque locations for holding ceremonies and taking photographs.
There are also a number of beautiful reserves and foreshore sites for use for wedding ceremonies within the City of Onkaparinga. You can find details about possible locations by searching the SA Communities website. Search tip: try searching on ’venues for hire’ in ’Onkaparinga’ council.

If you are advertising your event and seeking to place a temporary banner on council land, please complete an application form to obtain approval.
If there are temporary road closures required for your event, the council needs a minimum of three months’ notice to legally close the road. For more information, please contact the council’s Administration Officer on (08) 8384 0703.
