Permission to Publish

To ensure that publication of material from the City of Onkaparinga Local Studies collections receive due acknowledgement and promotion, the library requires that its permission be obtained prior to publication. Permission to publish will normally be granted where appropriate acknowledgement is given to the City of Onkaparinga Libraries.

Definition of "to publish"

Publication is defined as making an item available to the general community, either at a cost or free of charge. Print is the most common form of publication: however, CD-Rom, film, television, slide presentations, public displays and exhibitions, use of an illustration on fabric, and promotion of corporate enterprises, are also defined as forms of publication.

Requests for permission to publish

All requests for permission to publish should be made in writing to the Local Studies Officer giving details of the item/s required and their proposed use. A Request for Permission to Publish form is available for this purpose in a PDF file.

Each request is considered individually and the requestor is notified within 5 working days in writing whether approval to publish has been granted, as well as conditions of use and the form of acknowledgement to be used.

Copyright

Copies of the digitised images out of copyright may be made for the purposes of private research or study. However, as owner of the material, the City of Onkaparinga Libraries requires that permission be obtained to publish these images held in its Collections.

Some images of the Local Studies databases are courtesy of the State Library of South Australia and the Willunga Branch, National Trust of South Australia. Images supplied by these organisations can not be reproduced by City of Onkaparinga Libraries. Reproductions and permission to publish must be made directly through them.
