To the best of our knowledge, materials digitised to the database
are out of copyright. If a work in copyright has been inadvertently
included and the copyright owner prefers that the work not be
made available the record will be removed. Copies of the digitised
images out of copyright may be made for the purposes of private
research or study. However, as owner of the material, the City
of Onkaparinga Libraries require that permission be obtained to
publish images held in its Collections. Publication is defined
as making an item available to the general community at a cost
or free of charge. Publication applies not only to print but to
a wide range of formats including CD-Rom, film, television, websites,
public displays and promotions. Permission to publish will normally
be granted where appropriate acknowledgment is given to the City
of Onkaparinga Libraries. Images have been created at a resolution
less than the optimum for publication. You may order a high quality
photographic copy.
The City of Onkaparinga Libraries supports the "Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islanders Protocols for Libraries, Archives and
Information Services". The Libraries will respect any known secret/sacred
restrictions and approach possibly offensive or sensitive material
with due care. The Libraries will advise on a case-by-case basis
where permission may need to be sought from Aboriginal communities,
before items are released for publication. The database may contain
photographs of Aboriginal people who have since died. This may
cause sadness and distress to their relatives. Care and discretion
should be taken when viewing such records and photographs.
