Celebrations in the City

Come on in and discover if the ways in which people celebrate key events in their lives have changed from how we celebrate today.

What activities and events did the residents of our city enjoy over the past century?

What activities and events have shaped the social history and development of the council region?

We have a multitude of photographs and oral history interview extracts, both in written and audio format, all focusing on how people celebrated, what they celebrated and what other activities they enjoyed.

The oral histories are of local residents, who have shared their experiences for future generations.

Any of the extracts from the oral history interviews are available to view in full transcript from the Local History Collection located in Aldinga, Aberfoyle Hub and Noarlunga Libraries. With over 170 oral history interviews in our collection, ask library staff to assist you in finding what is available or visit our Library Catalogue and search using subject alphabetical "Oral history - Interviews - South Australia - City of Onkaparinga region".

For more information, please contact Melissa O'Connor, Local History Officer on 8384 0655 or email meloco@onkaparinga.sa.gov.au
